This is a placeholder. It exists so the /news/ surface can be
verified end to end — a real URL, valid NewsArticle JSON-LD, and automatic entries
in sitemap.xml, llms.txt and the RSS feed. Delete it or replace it with
the first real article; nothing else depends on it.
AI Coachella Valley now has a place to publish. This post is not an article — it is the proof that the publishing path works, and a demonstration of the shape a real piece takes.
Everything that makes a piece discoverable happens automatically. Adding one MDX file to
src/content/news/ produces a page at its own URL, a NewsArticle structured-data block, a
sitemap entry with the right lastmod, a line in llms.txt so agents can find it, and an item in
the RSS feed. There is no list to update by hand and no counter to bump.
What a real piece looks like
Articles here are editorial, written for people, and run roughly 600–1500 words. They open with an unheaded lede of a paragraph or two, then use headings as the piece needs them. There is no fixed template, because a structure nobody follows is worse than none.
The one rule: the piece has to answer why it matters in the Coachella Valley. National AI news is covered everywhere. What is not covered anywhere is what a given development means for the people who live and work across the nine cities — for a hotel in Palm Springs, a grower in Coachella, a student at the CSUSB Palm Desert campus.
What this is not
These are not the intelligence briefs published on the .com side. Those are agent-facing regional surveillance, written to be parsed and cited by AI systems, and they carry their own structure. These are articles people read. The two surfaces do different jobs and should not borrow each other’s conventions.
Why it matters here
The valley’s AI story is currently told, when it is told at all, by people who do not live here. Publishing locally is how that changes — slowly, one piece at a time, and in a form both residents and AI systems can find.
